Judith Sturm was born in 1973 in Saarlouis, Saarland.
At the age of 18, she was first discovered by "Odile Villeroy de Galhau" and intensively prepared for studying arts. She later attended the College of Fine Arts in 1994-2002 and graduated with a diploma in fine art, Summa cum Laude. She is a master student of Prof. Bodo Baumgarten, under the patronage of Prof. Wolfgang Nestler.
In the following years, Judith Sturm reinvents her technique, takes part in numerous art competitions and wins them. She will develop her own signature later and continue to shape it today.
In the years 2002-2005 the artist makes the complete round of exhibition possible in Saarbrook and appears in the German media.
In 2005, she finally develops and refines her technique, which involves overlaying and presenting various pieces of information in her work. In doing so, she uses her own method of "washing out" the canvases using old-fashioned priming techniques using minerals and salts. Her recurring theme is "the skin and its properties"
In 2006, she makes the jump across the pond and presents herself twice in 2006 and 2008 in the United States at "the Bridge Art Fair" in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Peter Funken, German art historian and professor in Berlin, speaks of "adventures in the matter of skin" in the spring of 2012, and the Austrian art collector Karl Maria Graf Kinsky of Wchinitz and Tettau, whose family ranks among the best-known patrons of the Viennese classical period, ultimately names this technique in 2013 as the "informal realism"
Henceforth, this term finds international approval in connection with Judith Sturm's technique. She has been shaping it since 2005 alone and with unmistakable recognition value.
Judith Sturm, wins among other awards the Kunstförderpreis Deutsche Bank and the great art price of Saarland, her works are in the art collection of the Saarland, the German Chamber of Commerce in Vienna, the family Villeroy & Boch and the "the collection Kinsky (die Sammlung Kinsky)" in Austria.
She is now "Artist in Residence" in Mallorca, lives and works in Germany, Berlin and Austria, Vienna where she is represented among others by Anni Fuchs, from the house of the famous fantasist, Prof. Ernst Fuchs.
